World Patient Safety Day is observed every year on 17 September. It was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019 as a global awareness day to promote patient safety worldwide. In Germany, the campaign is coordinated by the German Coalition for Patient Safety (Aktionsbündnis Patientensicherheit – APS).

“Safe Care for People with Chronic Conditions – For a Better Life!”
The focus is on the safe care of people living with chronic, noncommunicable diseases. The aim is to reduce risks in healthcare, strengthen collaboration among all those involved in care, and sustainably improve the quality of life of people affected.

Does the German Coalition for Patient Safety (APS) provide financial support for local or regional events?
The German Coalition for Patient Safety (APS) welcomes and supports the wide range of activities organised for World Patient Safety Day by providing information and campaign materials. However, due to its organisational structure as a non-profit association, APS is unable to provide financial or personnel support for local or regional events.
